The famous SS Great Britain Propeller
In recent years June has been producing a wide variety of artwork with members of her community art group in Weybridge. Following a trip to Bristol in 2015, June produced this strong image of the famous SS Great Britain Propeller using acrylics.
Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, for the Great Western Steamship Company's transatlantic service between Bristol and New York. The SS was equipped with a superior screw propeller, and it helped it to become the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic, which she did in 1845, in the time of 14 days and when launched in 1843 was the largest vessel in the world.
